Tongue and Groove is probably one of the most popular styles of panelling and one of the easiest to install. We have taken this popular plank and added a detail which is called Reed and Bead, this moulding will grace any room but is especially popular in Bathrooms and Kitchens. The planks can be fitted directly onto the wall and we can also supply a specially designed Skirting board, which each plank can be sat on top of, alleviating the need to silicone to the floor. We can also offer a dado shelf which also has a handy rebate, making it easy to fit.

FAQ

Here, we have answered most of your questions related to wall panelling.
What is wall panelling and why is it popular again?
Wall panelling is a decorative wall treatment made using mouldings or panels to add depth, texture, and character. It’s popular again because it adds architectural interest, hides imperfections, and works well in both modern and traditional interiors.
Is wall panelling cheaper than replastering a wall?
In many cases, yes. Wall panelling can be a cost-effective alternative to replastering, especially when walls are uneven or cracked, as it hides imperfections without extensive prep work.
What is the easiest wall panelling style for a DIY beginner?
Shaker-style MDF wall panelling is the easiest for beginners due to its simple layout, straight cuts, and forgiving installation process.
Do I paint wall panelling before or after fitting?
It’s best to prime panels before fitting and apply final paint coats after installation for a seamless, professional finish.
How do I clean and maintain wall panelling long term?
Regular dusting and occasional wiping with a damp cloth are enough. Avoid harsh chemicals, especially on painted or wood-finished panels.
Which types of wall panelling work best in UK homes?
Shaker, heritage moulded panels, dado-height panelling, and full-height panelling are the most popular styles in UK homes due to their versatility and compatibility with period and new-build properties.
Can I put wall panelling on uneven or slightly damp walls?
Panelling can be fitted on uneven walls with preparation, but it should never be installed on damp walls. Any moisture issues must be resolved first to avoid long-term damage.
What height should wall panelling be in a living room or hallway?
Common heights are dado height (around 900–1100mm) or two-thirds of the wall. The best height depends on ceiling height, room proportions, and style preference.
What is the best material for wall panelling, MDF, oak, or plywood?
MDF is best for painted finishes, oak is ideal for natural wood looks, and plywood is durable but less commonly used for decorative mouldings.
Does wall panelling add value to a property?
Yes, well-designed wall panelling can enhance visual appeal and perceived quality, which often adds value and improves buyer interest.
